Green Screen Course

Chroma Screen Capture and Keying for Intermediate Level Filmmakers

Often referred to as "Green Screen", Chroma Keying is a technique employed by Budget Indies and Hollywood Hit-Makers alike.
It is the process of employing a generic one colour background to be removed and replaced in Post-Production with another background that is much more desirable or interesting.

This 2 Day workshop is structured to teach the basics of Chroma Screen Setup and Lighting Techniques for Capture, as well as the basics of what to do with your Captured materials afterwards in a Post-Production environment.

Participants will assist in setting up and lighting a professional "Green Screen" Matte Background and will be given opportunity to Film Subjects and Objects in front of it, using SONY EX - HD Camera's. This portion of the workshop takes place on November 27th at NFVIA's office and warehouse.
A second day that will see participants working with the resulting captured footage, will take place the following weekend over the 4th and 5th of December and will take place in the Yukon Film Society's Post-Production Suite.
Participants will be able to sign into one of two available 6-8 hour Post-Production workshops on either of those days.
(First to sign up will be given their preference of day)

Participants will be given a brief history of the process and learn about it's current capabilities and they will become familiar with the various challenges associated with capturing media for Chroma removal purposes, and in getting a great "Key" in the edit.
Participants will also walk away with a copy of their work on USB Thumb-drives.
